Fresh Asylum

Beside this bed,

outside their room,

beyond my fugue,

where others loom,

out through their bars

and sterile glass,

past lurid lots,

and fresh cut grass,

by littered streets,

where yards are mowed,

near putrid trash

in plastic molds,

through window panes,

with messy floors,

there is a room

with wooden doors.

Through languid lids,

and bloodshot eyes,

in spite of them

despite confined,

I see their clothes,

I see their room,

I blink but once,

I see they're home.
