A Quick Smile On The Downtown 1

A Quick Smile On The Downtown 1

A Poem by John
"

For all of you who ride the NYC subways, I hope you understand this one.

"

A smile,
Quick and meaningful.

“No, I don’t think so…”
(But how much I hope so.)

So I thought that one lie
would be ok.
It’s all bullshit anyway.

“At last! This is something new.
Could it really work this time?”

Only two more blocks.
The palpitations are enough
to know I feel her.
Oh, how I feel her.

“Yes! It’s working!”
And at that moment, I forgot.
I needed to so I could feel
human one last time.

Before My stop, She left.

The final glance was a luxury
I never got to feel.

I’ve learned my lesson
never to forget.
