A Poem by Solidad

We sit and bounce memories back and fourth like pin balls.
Figuring out the world in a six year time frame.
I was younger but flipping through photos,
It seemed like we were decades apart and just met somewhere in the middle.

Holding on to pictures of faded faces,
laughs
and the occasional one night stands.

Some of those moments were beautiful,
Others not so much
but NONE of them regretted.

I watched the styles change,
Smiles fading in and out of focus.
A more distilled look surfacing.

You always looked happy
even when you weren't smiling
Because it just didn't get any better for you in that moment.

There were sights of sad eyes,
though they were mostly emerging from the viewer and not so much the photograph.

It all passes too quickly as we compare and you wonder,
"Where did it all go?"
Turning into fathers and lovers,
Husbands and wives.

I bet you all sit back now
Chuckling about the beer, b***s, and belly laughs.
Hoping it was really more then 'Just A Phase'...

Author's Note

Solidad
Just a Phase was a car club that John was in when he was younger. Really raw so ignore grammar and spelling.
