On the wings of a memory…

 

she flies

through yesterday’s skies,

where winds warm the ribbons of clouds

tied gently around her heart

 

and so she flies

 

head held high, eyes a bit blurry

but still

eyes that see

somewhere beyond this endless sky

 

where rainbow painted words of hope

flutter

on the wings of love

 

and sunbeams dance

and love still waits…

 

as warm as the wind

as gently as the ribbons of clouds

that keep her holding on to a memory

 

she flies

did you see the picture and write .. or write and find the picture .. either way they are perfectly put together ... she reminds me of a tattoo i have on my ribs of the water bearer ( i am an Aquarian) .. the dress and pose are very similar ..

you do such a fine job! i never fail to feel the dream and heartbeat of romance from your poetry .. sigh.................. ;)

The use of the thought of flight in a romantic write is almost universal in its proclamation that love is liberating, freeing the lovers soar above any of reality's obstacles. This comes back to the universal question: what does love mean? Why do so many people fall in love with the IDEA of love? I wrote once that love is impossible to define, or that there are so many different schools of thought that finding two the same would be as if finding two like snowflakes. If one truly wants to define love, one can look at "Wings" and see it characterized in its essence, the bare bones of what love FEELS like, not what defines it. You write beautifully, Julie, and your love/romance writes are always so well expressed that one can actually gasp for breath while in its reading. So wondrous is its expression that it is disarmingly real and robust. A fine poem, as is your usual. take care...dan
