i often wonder what is ever definitive...we have so many rules, definitions, and those pasteurized lies that we believe at our own risk....i always try to get my students to think outside the box..smear the ink a little before it permanently dries.

Thinking is indeed a good thing. And certainly things should be questioned and not just blindly believed... But what I refer to is another type of blind belief. Our culture has decided that there are no absolutes (despite the fact that that claim, is, itself one) and instead of being told to search and find the truth, people are told to meekly accept that there is no truth, and that whatever they adopt is their truth. That claim, itself, must be challenged.
