Poetry is

Let your words be an extension of yourself, and you can never go wrong.

Poetry is happy, 

Poetry is sad,

Poetry is good,

Poetry is bad.

Poetry is words, 

Poetry is feeling. 

Poetry is my inner self,

I'm frightened of revealing. 

Poetry is

My imprisoned soul,

Deep, dark,

Emotionless and cold. 

Poetry is

The amputation surgery,

Real, dethatched

And slightly unnerving. 

Poetry is not the word, 

Or the sequence in which you write them. 

It's the underlying feelings,

And the way you crawl inside them. 

Let your poetry be happy,

Let your poetry be sad,

Let your poetry be good,

Let your poetry be bad. 

Let your poetry be you,

Free and open to the world.

Free the you you've locked away. 

Take pride in the frightened little girl.
