Regression

Regression

A Poem by DarkStar

Regression
I have a small obsession,
With the topic of regression.
How years of who you are,
Can be lost if pushed to far.

To define who you are by age,
Seems foolproof when written on page.
But like lots of life it fails in reality,
The question of humanity.

Does age itself exist at all?
Was the idea invented?
Take a look through history,
Facts for this are well presented.

Take children, as one route in,
Invented at its core concept.
A hundred years ago, history says,
Childhood did not exist.

So if children are created,
It is reasonable to assume.
That so too are all of us,
The idea to be human.

If regression shoes us one thing,
Besides the frailty of the mind.
It shows us life is to short to define yourself by others.
Who you are, you get to decide.
