Knowing

Knowing

A Poem by Kelso A. Nicholson

I found you more appealing today
I don't know why
but I saw you
and the effect was like air when you cannot breathe.
I've seen you a hundred times this way and never noticed.
The way you stood softly around the edges, smiling at your shoes.
Our eyes met briefly from across the room
you gave me a knowing look.
I took a sip of my drink and smiled.
We both knew I was going over there, it was only a matter of time.
All the words that needed to be said were exchanged in that look..
I don't know why,
but I saw you.
