Unspoken (behind the veil)

Unspoken (behind the veil)

A Poem by M.Kilani

Many nights have grown old

Summer is ending and it’s getting cold

And I’m looking in music for an answer

To a question that came from silence

Lost I am in fog before the storm

Still confused, still can't find an answer

Not in music, not in my cigarette, my coffee, not in violence

Not even on the roads I roam

For the other to break now we both await

What more than waiting do I hate

We are still bending what seems to be true

Would I drift away? Or run away would you

We still hide behind our laughter

Still unspoken the words we look after

We still seek hints to answers that are half known

From our desire we run away, as we both watch the same dawn

Only fear, shame, and pride apart us of what we wish to be real

Each grabs an end, each pull harder the ends of the same veil

Only a shroud keeping words from where they belong

This time it’s not silence after a touching song

And the words remain unspoken

And the bounds remain unbroken

And so we are …

A phenomenal combination of peace and joy and sorrow....a true portrayal of the masks we wear in daily life...hiding away our true feelings..ourselves from the world...wanting to say what we think but being afraid to...the endless searching for answers to our questions... the confusion as to who we are..how we feel...the impatience felt while waiting...
A wonderful poem...You've quite outdone Yourself :)

Nicely written. It's the combination of thoughts and emotions -good and bad -that make us who we are... yet those same things can keep people apart... and that is life...

This is what every poet feels, joys and sorrows in one emotion. Your style is so simple and so beautiful. The simple ideas you offer are made powerful and mighty by the context. Very well done!

This is wonderful, beautiful to say the least. Sometimes speaking...Is just as well to say..That I have learned when you have something to say!...Then I say SAY IT! Because in this world until you do. People will walk all over you!
