White/Blue Bounty [Jesus]

White/Blue Bounty [Jesus]

A Poem by Emunah June.
"

You called me off the beaches and into the water.

"
You called me off the beaches and into the water
when I told myself I couldn't swim.
Your hand was loving and sweet.
You called me, but I refused.

I smelled of the liar's smoke
but yet You called me again,
a voice bellowing and bouncing
along merciful waves, but I refused.

Long webs that looked like silk
(more of steel wool!)
wrapped me in its sick embrace.
You called me home, but I refused.

You were mine from the beginning.
You called me back to the time of pretty pictures
and undeniable grace.
You called me, but I refused

There was so much mystery surrounding Your name.
My hands were too small to hold on to Your abundant love,
too little to contain a God so big.
You called me to the throne, but I refused.

I knew nothing about Your son,
but I had felt Your love sweep past me on breezy Sunday mornings
when I made my trek to the bus stop.
You called to freedom, but I refused.

A book with all the answers. I loved the feel
of gold around a name sopped in red -- Jesus.
Your name beget such incredible power, and I feared myself for not understanding it.
You called me to learn, but I refused.

I watched congregations call upon His name --- "Jesus!"
and watched as waves of people washed upon Your shores.
Glass bottles with no notes, only sins to be cleansed.
You called me to join them, but I refused.

Travelers like me couldn't understand You.
You were too big for a speck like me to find on a daunting map.
Your hands were far too loving for me to deserve it.
You called me to find You, but I was too scared. I refused.

I captured myself in a box of glory-less light.
My faith waved like a beachside flame.
I couldn't find my way out of the jungle, a prison of palm trees.
You called me to the lighthouse, but I shut my eyes. I refused.

It wasn't until I found myself underneath the glaring sun,
skin washed in His blood, that I called upon His holy name --- "JESUS!"
The savior of the lost sheep. He found me, graceful hands
calling me to the center of the waves. "Find Me. Follow Me."

I followed.

Now my shores are free of borders.
My feet run against clean sands, hidden beneath the light
of the One who died just I could love this life I live.
Call me again, Lord. I will come.

Awh, this is absolutely beautiful! Incredibly relatable as well. And I love how you wrote that you sort of knew God, but without Jesus, you can't really get to God- JESUS is the key. I love this so much. And the ending is inspiring. "Call me again, Lord. I will come." I'm so glad God has blessed you with this gift and that you use it to glorify Him! 100/100
