Everybody Has a Maria In ThemA Poem by Emunah June. When you stare in the mirror You think "God, what if? What if I was skinnier? What if I was more popular? What if I was prettier? What if I was sexier?"
We stare at the mirror And wonder "what if?"
Then we see it We see that version of ourselves
We look in the mirror And we see her She's as skinny as a board
He's friends with the entire football team
She's the prettiest thing alive
He looks great without a shirt
We go from Mary to Maria From James to Joseph We've changed We're different We're something we're not
Do you break the mirror in anger? Or simply place a curtain over it? Either way We see it That life We aren't That manesfesation We're not That being
That soul
That human
