These Marks on my Arms...

These Marks on my Arms...

A Poem by Kaelyn Shea

i mark my arms
with random signs
lines and swirls and dots
they are black and gray
thick and thin, long and short

they weave together
or stay away from one another
they fight for space
and curve along my viens
or lay on top of them

some look like scars
and in ways they are
they get darker
seem sharper and straighter
with anger and sadness

some look like dreams
but in ways they can be
they are lighter
seem softer and curvier
with happiness and bordom

i mark my arms
with random signs
lines and swirls and dots
they are black and gray
thick and thin, long and short

It sure has the tone of cutting, but your clarification changed my view. I used to doodle on my hands too. I think it's such a childlike poem, even if it has a sortof suicidal sound.

Keep Writing. ^___^

We used to do that in high school. My dad didn't like it when I did it.
