Cracks Like the Waves

Cracks Like the Waves

A Poem by Lesley Wood
"

Sharp, piercing grain of sand infiltrates my oyster brain...

"

Sharp piercing grain of sand

Infiltrates my oyster brain.

The pain, the horror!

This shell may crack again.

How so I fall?

I can fall with style-

I can crack. I can mend.

I can crack. I can mend.

My face cracks like waves

Against these rocks.

My life, these rocks,

Crumbling away.

What will remain?

Grains of sand to infiltrate

Other lives, other brains?

Is it all just Dust to Dust

In this Great Circle of Time or Life?

Where is the time? When is there time?

Where is MY time?

I must surf these waves in style;

I need to flip, I need to glide,

I need to hang ten, man.

This is definitely a goodie; heck a greatie even! lol

I love the metaphor of the oyster and the shell and the cracking of the shell. That's just brilliant. I can feel this poem. You made me feel it. The cracks and the crumbles and the way that time keeps slipping away. Definitely a goodie. Oh yeah.

A good metaphor for life. Sometimes a person just has to push through and just to connect and let go of everything else even something as silly as time.
