Crash Land

I wrote this poem a few years ago, maybe you can relate sometimes.

Crash Land   

   Do you know that feeling

   when you get so far

   it feels like your souring above the rest

   and you realize you're afraid of heights?

 

   When you see that

   you're just another broken bird

   with mismatched wings

   and there's no one to catch you on the

   W

        A

   Y

 

        B

   A

        C

   K

 

        D

   O

        W

   N

 

   I thought I could fly,

   so why am I crashing down?

   It feels like I'm falling

   back to the ground.

I have felt like this, Rachel. More often than I care to say. I am flying along, happy as a lark and then I see how high I am. Yikes. Crash landing is just about imminent. I liked this short piece very much. Angi~

This was a poignant and sad look into the mind of someone who once seemed to have it only, only to have the magic carpet yanked from beneath them on the way to the pinnacle of the heap.

My favorite part of your piece was the way in which you formatted the words "WAY BACK DOWN". That was a stroke of poetic and artistic genius there!

I can relate to this on the days that I feel down. What caught my eye the most was when you had "way back down" as a ladder. Good job!

But when I do, it's blissful.
And surprisingly, the fall is freeing.
