What You Helped to Create

What You Helped to Create

A Poem by Lindsay
"

Written while grieving my beloved Mommom and inspired by my feelings surrounding her struggle.

"

What You Helped to Create

Scream to me

While I’m still here.

Move me, throw me,

Be unfair.

Alter dimensions,

Leave the page.

Defy the logic,

Be the change.

Pick an outfit,

Off the floor.

Wear it out,

The threads are sore.

Leave the mess,

And laugh with me.

Brush your hair,

With apathy.

Shift your weight,

And break through walls.

Count your years,

In careless falls.

Make mistakes,

Like you should be.

Be you, always.

Stay with me.

Be not timely,

Proper, genteel.

Be inconvenient,

An onion to peel.

Be unconventional,

Mixed up and tossed.

Be just what you are,

At all times and all costs.

For it’s you that I love,

Not despite all your spots.

But with all your flaws,

You remain in my thoughts.

The whole of your being,

For better and great.

I just wish you could see,

What you helped to create.

This read like the movie, 'Mommy Dearest'...so sad, I had a toxic relationship like this and what I learned is from my own experience is that you can't ever please these people...no matter what you do...because they'll always act indignant and entitled to your feelings...it's best to cut it off and let it go or suffer mental anguish that scars...a wonderful write from the depths of your heart and soul, Lindsay. ~Ev
