Courage.

Courage.

A Poem by E.A. Standifer

I know that you are scared.
It is the only sensible way to be;
After so many pieces of yourself that you thought you'd shared,
But were never again to see.

Lost. Stolen. Forgotten.
Part of you missing, each and every time.
Raw passion, turned sour and rotten;
A dismal pollution of something sublime.

But, I ask you to find your courage!
I ask you, not, to be brave.
To act in spite of trepidation or discourage!
Not that fear be abandoned or shaved.

Hold tight to your suspicion and caution.
Let it comfort you as it may.
But let it not hinder hope from blossom!
The beacon to guide your way.

Even when pieces of your spirit be scattered,
And disappointment demands its toll,
The best of you is intact, if battered,
In abundance at the wellspring of your soul.
