Sunrise over the Chickencoop

Sunrise over the Chickencoop

A Poem by LonelySoul

I take my morning coffe on the back porch stoop,
just to enjoy the sunrise over the Chicken coop...
the reds and blues, of a dawning sky,
often brings a tear, to my yawning eye,
Sitting in this big empty house,
my companions are two cats,a dog and...
I think I've got a mouse...
Thinking about old dreams and wishes,
that reminds me,I need to do the dishes,
then I'll take a break with coffee in hand,
out the back door to look over the land,
So I take a seat on the back door stoop,
and contemplate the sunrise over the chicken coop...
To me it means I've got another day,
with plenty to do but not much to say...
There's a million thoughts and ideas in my mind,
about what to do with what my Mom left behind,
but I feel disconnected like I'm out of the loop,
so I stare into the sunrise over the chicken coop...
Sun light trickles in through the trees,
a thousand memories flooding into me,
I remember the life I once had on this hill,
my Mother passing was such a bitter pill...
The sunrise seems to give me hope,
warms my soul and helps me cope,
I'm not really sure why I stay,
I guess I'm looking for a better way,
When my smile begins to droop,
I'll always have the sunrise over the chicken coop...
