WearyA Poem by The Advocate
I stand naked in the realm of spirits,
The wounds on my back that once dripped wetly Now merely jagged scars to remind me What I gave up to be here in this world. Both sides taunt me, whisper to me, "Come home, come home. "Let them all perish in flame. "We will begin again, the world born anew." I cannot let them, either court. I cannot let the High give in to impatience. I cannot let the Fell rend the flesh of the world. I cannot fail...and yet I do. She knows not what she is, Or who she is, Only that she walks and runs And seems to stand still in life. How many times since her expulsion Has she been led to her slaughter At the hands of the Fell Or the words of High bureaucrats? How many times have I followed her And come into her life Only to watch as designs, both High and Fell, Strip her of her sanity, of her being? For loving the world, she is damned by both. For loving her, I am hunted by all. For trying to heal, we are both unwelcome In the houses of those who once called us kin. Why do you forsake us for the choice of Light? Was not all Creation intended for life? Why evaporate the world when there are so many Who still call upon the Creator for Good? You damn us...but you envy us. You mock us...but you fear us. You set the patterns in motion But dare not pluck us from the fabric. You have given to despair, And the Fell have won a victory, For their fearmongering sits on high In the chin scratchings of Elders. You know what I can do, And you know I can do it. You know what she can do, And you know that she can do it. Remove the obstacles that you have placed before The only souls, for there are many, that can do real Good. Forget the Shadow. Embrace the Light. When was the last time you prayed? © 2010 The AdvocateFeatured Review
