If Time

If Time

A Poem by Lorraine Pearson
"

oh to save time...

"

Hourglass

If Time…
By Lorraine Pearson
February 8, 2008

If time
Weren't of man
Nor
would be
The sand
In
The hourglass
Measuring moments
Gone past.

Then...

I could gather
One grain
Every hour, each day
In
A storehouse
Hideaway
For
An eternity
Beside you.

L, I love how you bind the idea of eternity, of time, with the infinite grains of sand to express the longing of one heart for another. I picture two lovers, on the beach, fingers laced as they lay beside each other, waves crashing as cymbals upon the carpet before their unshod feet, waters afternoon warm, faces glistening, beads of sweat reflecting the world entire and each, lost in their own thoughts of lives twinned in the eternal now. Such is the power of the images you create with the magic of your heart and the brilliance of your expressive soul.

As I've said in another review, I love the use of hourglass for some bizarre reason.

Beautiful poem,

Oh, this is a beauty! It just flows so smoothly as you read it, like silk, very fluid. What a talent you truely have for enticing the imagination with your beautiful word pictures.
Very much enjoyed this one!
