Accept It

Accept It

A Poem by Lowesy

A small, little problem, turns to thousands,

A thousand arguments a day, anger is all that surrounds us.

We scream and shout the problem away.

And then I know that it’s coming,

I brace myself for it, I feel like running away.

But I stand my ground, clamp my eyes shut, all I can do is wait.

You shift your weight onto your right, and you draw back your fist in anger,

As your fury comes out in a burst, you unleash it with a wish of danger,

You instantly regret making the movement, slapping rough knuckles on to my cheek.

Bruising and swelling already, your tears fall like rain, I cannot speak.

From that moment you’re different, a stranger in my own home,

As you storm out, I’m sitting here, crying, all alone.

This is not what I expected, although I should’ve known different by now,

Your anger was always what I resented; I thought you had changed somehow.

But I love you and I cannot change this, turn my feelings off like a switch,

Sure you’re hurting me, hurts me, it kills me. But there’s nothing I can do but accept it.

An emotionally written piece. The unconditional love always holds us tight and won't let go, even under tumultuous circumstances. Well Penned!
