my angel

my angel

A Poem by Lydia Shutter
"

a poem i wrote a while ago.....about a special someone who has passed...

"

artwork by gabriel gajdos

his light emanated as if a beacon

i was drawn to his luminosity

i just had to investigate

i was brimming with curiosity

was it my imagination?

should i trust my own vision?

would the others influence me?

no, i had to make my own decision!

at the most unexpected places

he would suddenly appear

comforting me when it was essential

recognizing I needed him near

when life made me stumble

and i thought i’d taken all i could take

he’d shed light on the situation

helping me recognize my mistake

how often was i caught in the middle

on the proverbial picket fence?

somehow he acknowledged my faults

while giving massive acceptance

turning me into a survivor

making me understand

wanting me to do it alone

yet always offering his hand

when i was finally self-confident

his light seemed to diminish

i noticed a small smile on his lips

he was satisfied he’d fulfilled his wish

and although on this earth

his light can no longer shine

i know he was an angel

and i am grateful he was mine!

dear Lydi... there are certain people who have the ability to guide and encourage... especially angels in disguise... who are very wise. Your photo is a glimpse into your poetry. Yes, we have guardian angels who suddenly appear at the most unlikely times. truly, Pat

Powerful and wonderful use of words.
"turning me into a survivor

The above lines are true. Must hold with gentle grasp. Love should be knowing freedom and knowing safety. Thank you Lydia for sharing the outstanding poetry.

You are welcome dear Lydia.
More of a soulmate than a friend, his auro only began to wane when he was satisfied his protégé was complete!

An absolutely terrific tribute, posthumously poetic in fine rhyme and verse!

Not always fond of this kind of verse but having surpassed by a long way my expectations ....again... This is superb, rhythmically and romatically it is just perfect.

I don't write rhyming poetry much anymore. I prefer free verse. Always pleased to have a review fr.. read more
Life's trials can strengthen our survival skills and friend's or special people's passing can enlarge our understandings. Turning into sort of angels is thinking of their presence in lovely ways. Sad but very relatable...:)............
