There she stood

There she stood

A Poem by Maxwell Ryder

There she stood
as she has,
time and again,
still so pretty as the
autumn day I met her;
Me, so typical,
not sharing a word,
watched her brush
the leaves off
above my head
and place mums at
my mid section;
the same tear,
prayer,
and whisper:
“See you next year,
dear.”

this is something so ethereal, so passionate in thoughts and words... i like how the words are used, there is the element of surprise in the last line...
