Fly

Fly

A Poem by Melissa Kesead

I stand on the edge

looking down at the sea

and the rocks that beckon me

they seem to know

just what my thoughts are

they look so close and yet so far

The jagged peaks

glisten with spray

in the glowing light of day

I want to touch them

and become one

my only witness is the sun

I take a step closer

my heart says "wait"

my mind says "do not hesitate"

I don't look back

to say goodbye

I only open my wings...and fly
