Depressions Disguise

Depressions Disguise

A Poem by Melissa Kesead
"

I wrote this while my husband was going through cancer therapy. It's part of my book Setting The Furies Free

"

Depression’s seeping into you

I can see it in your eyes

Your smile has lost its sparkle

Like you’re wearing a disguise

I’m looking toward tomorrow

You’re fixed inside the present

I continue to urge forward

A trait that you resent

Hopefully you’ll finally see

The light at the tunnel’s end

You will soon return to health

No need to try and pretend

Look toward a bright tomorrow

See the hope within my eyes

We will not be beaten

As long as the sun does rise
