The Ghost of Filbery Hall

The Ghost of Filbery Hall

A Poem by Maddi

Filbery Hall was haunted,

A poltergeist lurked in the halls.

She screeched and she screamed,

And she floated around.

But no one could hear her,

Not a peep, not a sound.

So she messed with heir heads,

She moved things about,

They'd never see her, not at all.

But smashed mirrors, windows and the like,

Made people who move in, always move out.

No one wanted a wraith in the night.

But the ghost of Filbery Hall,

Wasn't a poltergeist or wraith.

She didn't lurk in the shadows.

She was left all alone,

With her family moved on,

Chained to the house, not free to roam.

There'd been a fire 500 years ago,

And Filbery had been replaced.

Everyone had perished,

But she got left behind.

She'd never had her first kiss.

That's what kept her behind.

When the boy moved in,

He wasn't scared,

He would talk with her often.

A boy who could hear her,

A boy who knew.

She was trapped here all these years.

And in the back of the shadows,

The real demon lurked.

The real poltergeist skulked and slinked about,

Waiting for its chance to hurt.
