Pink Socks

Pink Socks

A Poem by Nate Blue
"

The girl I still love

"

Pink Socks

Deep Black waves pulled us together

Strong Black coffee to clear our minds

Tangled Black hair pulled back to reveal her face

Black was the color I felt when I needed your body warmth to get through the night

Clear Light Blue skies over us

Blue earphones on long bus rides to connect us through song

Dark Blue blankets embraced us in the backseat of your car

Blue was the color I felt when you looked me in the eye and whispered, “I Love You”

Light Pink lips that are softer than her touch

Fluffy Pink socks with cheetah converse

Dark Pink thongs to break the tension

Pink was the color that reminded me of you when you loved me

Perfect White skin made her look so innocent

White stomachs against each other, but both weren’t mine

White car doors slammed in the dead of the night

White was the color I felt when you left me for someone else

Red streaks through her tangled black hair

Deep Red thongs for her lover

Beet Red cheeks enveloped her in anger

Red is the color I feel for you because I am still in love with you

She loved me more than I loved myself

Her love was so innocent and pure

She brought me every shade of every color into my life

and now all I am left with is Red
