Born Of

A poem I wrote for the start one of my novels

 

I was born of the blood,
and I will die as one.
I have killed with pleasure,
and I have killed with sorrow,
but all of these deaths had a purpose,
and each have been avenged by the devil himself.
I'm one of the devil's own--
born of the shadows to live
and be strong; to hunt, not to be hunted.
I will live as the blood as I was born.
My blood, heart, and soul are all of the devil's.
I came from his hand,
and I will die the same way.

I will be truthful and say that it was hard for me to read your poem having strong christian beliefs, but I did promise to read and comment on all poems summited to the contest.... I did find this well penned, just a eerie and sad write. Gave me goosebumps and made me a little queasy. Hope it's just your muse, and not some kind of reality. PW
