West Bay Clams

West Bay Clams

A Poem by Neville
"

I was going to call this Silence of the Clams

"

West Bay Clams

How I wish upon these ultra violet hues and those iridescent blues hiding in the spray and spew of our West Bay cove, that you were here today my love…

I do, I do, I do…

Clams though alas, are seriously shy sea creatures and rarely initiate conversation seeming to prefer silence and solitude to any form of social interaction whatsoever…

I truly understand that too my love…

I do, I do I do…

people can be much like clams...too shy to come out of their shells...but wishing they could...
I wonder if clams would actually like a little more noise and interaction...if only they could talk...and would want to.
i really like this allegory, Neville,

I love how this feels like a tickling, enticing overture to someone who's possibly been clamming up. I love how your words balance the desire to bring this person out into the open & also trying to respect his/her need for taking a clam stance *wink! wink!* I have my clam stretches too (((NUGS))) Fondly, Margie

This is a very successful poem. Although short it has a bit of everything in it. It is multi-layered, it has fine sea imagery, it is clever, it is truthful, there is even a touch of humour, as well as pathos and romance in it. Your readers should be delighted. Shyness is an obstacle to overcome. That can be awkward. A great write. Thoroughly enjoyed Neville.
