An Angel's Touch

An Angel's Touch

A Poem by Marissa Letterio

The insecurity of oneself is lost within the sensation of a single grazing fingertip.

By the touch of your hand against my fair cheek, may my woes be stifled.

May my weeping be silenced by the sound of your voice.

You speak not of your troubles and protect me from your pain.

As I do all I can to internalize my own.

Though my efforts are futile, your patience is infinite.

Your eyes reflect the bruises which you hide so artfully.

Fear not, for when they well up beyond your expectations.

I will be here for you.

As you are for me.

I will cup my hand against your cheek and remind you of your worth.

For it is more than you will ever know, and more than I could ever wish to deserve.

Thank you.
