You Make Me

You Make Me

A Poem by Expresswithwords

You Make Me

God, you saved me. Saved me from myself.

My mind, polluted with darkness and distaste.

My life would be over, but you recovered it.

You pushed me back in time to my birth.

With you I am an infant. I stare at an open field,

There are so many places I can go because of you.

You rewired my brain and edited my D.N.A.

You changed me, and I thank you for that.

Without you, who am I? I am pure dark.

I am just a piece in the story of the world’s collapse.

Instead, you make me part of your story.

Of how you saved the world, your children.

My past self is no longer who I am. I can move on,

I can forgive myself as I need to forgive others.

I can now drop the boulders weighed on my back,

Because Jesus already carried the cross for me.

And for that, I thank God because there would be no life,

With the past I have constructed for myself.

I could not live with it, but He lets me live without it.

As long as I accept this gift, and hold it in my heart.

This is spiritual, thoughtful, and very wise. I feel the same about my life. I really do.
