Love Rejected

Love Rejected

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

Love Rejected

You made promise after promise,
life was to change for us
but you were drowning
in a sea of guilt.
A prison with walls of regret
thick with the rings of passing years.
You deserved nothing,
no love, no future, no identity.
Such subtle abuse that saps
all self belief
had left you moribund.
And I as an intruder,
in such grief,
had no place at your table of servitude.

No that's a title I have!
ugh... women who need saving and won't take it, men who long to save and are rejected. Why it's such a common story I do not want to ponder. This poem paints a picture I know well, but had not really formed in my mind. Well done John.

Yes we both know it all too well. Many thanks Mark.
Wow, I've sat at that table often. I hope to lose the sense of security it brings. Well penned, John you've expressed a special level of understanding the struggles and processes of another.

Thank you PH you are so very kind.
Such pain, such longing, such frustration. The reader feels each and every word, and knows the futility of such endeavours.

Perhaps tis a fact.
Heavy sigh, I know this one well, I've lived it. That sea of guilt, even when it's not your's to own, is overwhelming and dictates every aspect of life. Drowning in your words John.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
