The Craft of Love and Pain

There is no poetry without pain,

there is no verse without love's touch.

For these opposing forces

provide the rich milieu of thought

that stimulates the creative mind.

And we who scribe

take each morsel, each fragment,

and piece them together

like a fractured mirror,

reflecting our emotions

in, often cathartic, cascades

of bitter sweet ink.
