There Hangs a StarA Poem by John Alexander McFadyenSimple LoveThere
Hangs a Star Silence, but not of lambs and twice as soft. I reach out, quietly, no words just affection, stroking your skin. But here's the thing; It seems we have drifted. The currents have swollen the distance between us. The waves parting our kisses. Life has piled on its layers, coats and hats and sweaters and heavy boots. Making it difficult to bathe, to enjoy the bliss of a warmer sun. Black lament, coals that glow hot and bright then burn-out to cold grey ash. But always hope. Always that star hangs twinkling down at me from a beautiful universe, so distant, so removed, but still so breath-taking. And thus, tethered to the earth, I flush and smile, and sigh, full of blue regrets.
