On That Day...

On That Day...

A Story by Chloe..Across the Universe
"

we were one

"

Tuesday, September 11, 2001 America is waking  to the last day of innocence as she knows it..
Those staunch New Yorkers busteling down city streets on foot, bicycles, subways, taxis, in
automobiles- Some are at work, some on their way...some just shopping or running errands
They all have something in common , something so horriffic so vile and evil, unbelievable....
All will share the same nightmare , as will all of America and most of the world , a never ending
nightmare that still is with us all....

We know what happened. We saw it first hand or on TV....The Twin Towers held people from all
walks of life from all over the world..Husbands and wives, sisters and brothers, mothers and fathers,
sons and daughters. friends  and lovers . I can only imagine their fear and too, courage...some making
frantic phone calls to loved ones they had said goodbye to just hours before not knowing it was
the last....heartbreaking....Those firefighters not caring of the risk try so hard to get the people out.
Police officers, all the first responders do the same.

Did you not feel the most sickening feeling as the first tower toppeld... then the second?
Did  you like me  see what looked to be monstrous, evil faces in the smoke that consumed those towers, or was that just me? Did you feel a burst of pride and sadness for those on flight
93  who decided  trying to over power those evil men rather than die at their plan  was a better alternative?
Sadness does not convey the emotions of that day...No word in my vocabulary does...
For those in the World Trade Center , The Pentagon, Flight 93 , we remember ...

For the way New Yorkers and  Americans from all over the U.S. came together to lend helping hands and shoulders
to lean on made us (most of us) proud to be Americans ,  and though we were anxious and just a bit afraid to go
about as usual we decided this was not going to stop us , they were not going to win  in such a manner, showed
the world we were United, we were one, all Americans shedding our tears together and holding each other
up, forgetting our differences for awhile , such a shame it took this tragedy to make us one...

I, we will never forget all who perished on that infamous day- I love you, rest easy.

Had you been a little more light-handed in the usage of ellipses (...) by substituting them with other appropriate punctuation marks, this story would have been perfect in creating its intended effect.

Otherwise, it's a nice read. Respect to the deceased.

Beautiful. I was only seven when 9/11 happened, but I remember seeing it all over the news. This was lovely to read and I applaud you for writing it!

so sad...I live in New York, and that was a horrible day. Great to read about someone involved

This is very heartfelt piece of work. I do think that lessening the use of ellipses would improve it, and I also think it could work very nicely in a poetic form, if you wanted to do that. Also punctuation and typos could be addressed as well, such as "toppld"

Otherwise, its always nice to know somebody still remembers that day, and it's sorrowful implications.

This piece did exactly what you wanted it to--honored the memories. I feel like so often we get lost in imagined worlds that we forget what happens around us. Thank you for keeping the memories vivid.

I don't know if you've ever read Seamus Heaney's Poem "Anything Can Happen," but I was instantly reminded of it when I read this. It's pretty short and I think it would help you! But this is really good. Beautiful.

moving. heartfelt. and heart breaking. no, not only America woke to the last day of innocence. the whole of humanity did. will Man ever eradicate evil or are we doomed? yes, it's good to be optimistic and look on the bright side of life but when I look around me and see the devastation in every corner of the world, I'm so disheartened. we bloody need a miracle.
many have written about that fateful day and many will.
you did well. what's astounding about your piece is there's no hatred here. you simply wrote to mourn those people who died simply because they were there.

Very touching :) I just wish that there's a world of happiness, without robbers, and "evil witches". Please keep writing.

Chloe this was written with great empathy. That day did change the world and we will never forget or forget where we were. New Yorker's and American's did indeed come together that day. I hardly can believe how fresh and surreal it can still feel.

No one can forget when they heard the news...what they were doing, where they were, and the feelings it caused. It was a day we were all patriotic...a day we must remember no matter how difficult it is....in order to make sure it never happens again. Written from the heart, Chloe. Good one. Lydi**

9-11 changed the USA. I like what they did in Boston. They stood together and didn't allow fear to overtake them. Terrorist want control by using violence to control the action of another. 9-11 left us with decisions made and today this infamous days made the USA different. The sad part. Us in the USA have short memories. I pray the road to the last war end or our fear will lead us to a bad place of no return. I'm proud of the New Yorkers. They stood together showing the world. We are free and fearless.
