unexpected snow

unexpected snow

A Poem by Phibby Venable

Unexpected Snow

an unexpected snow for miles
the snowbank stored a crown of smiles
the boys from West Jefferson
had quit the school to ride the hills
a snowplow that was passing through
stopped to hoist a snow man up
or rather, move the bottom half,
near to the torso and the head
the boys from West Jefferson
dismissed their teachers for the day
and rambled up and down the grade
to roam the purity of play.

those boys, always have some reason to roam the hills, I can almost hear the echoes of their laughter now . . . :)

The boys of West Jefferson remind me of the boys from my neighborhood..
Loved those snow days.. Lots of mischief..
I love this piece, Phibby!!

Those boys from West Jefferson are having fun. :o) I used to pray for snow in the winter as a kid so I could get out of school.

Nice idea of the boys dismissing the teachers to enjoy 'the purity of play'. A lively and pleasing scene.
