My Rescuer

My Rescuer

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

My Rescuer

Lost and alone,

I was wandering through life,

Going down an uncertain path,

Believing in only my sight.

Then, my eyes were opened

To Your grace and mercy.

For You knocked upon the door of my heart;

My Rescuer came to me.

Lifting me up

Beyond the world’s standards,

You brought me nigh to You

And moved me onward.

For in You, am I rising to new heights,

Developing who I am in Christ.

Though many times I fail,

My Rescuer sees that I rise.

Let me seek Your wondrous face

In the midst of my trouble and strife,

Just as I praise Your Name

When all is right.

Drowning in my sin,

You pulled me out and breathed new life in me.

A thousand times I thank You, Jesus,

My Rescuer, my eternal peace.
