A Cow's Life

A Cow's Life

A Poem by Tom Friel

I am
but a cow
chewing my cud
my cud, of contentedness.

Laying
in the grass (Ahhhhhhhh!)
cushioning my a*s
my a*s, of contentedness.

Swatting
at troubles
my only troubles
In this cow’s life of bliss.

Ah look!
Here comes the “man”.
Moo! (Say hey! Say hey!)
Moo! (More hay! More hay!)

Does he share
in my contentedness?
Does he care
for my contentedness?

Why pursue
the thoughts of man.
I am but a cow.
Only a cow is what I am.
