broken...so broken

this is a sad one with tribute to the genius of Chris Isaak

it seems like yesterday

not long ago i was caressing your face...
now my touch is unwanted
i remember the last time you smiled at me... forced, rehearsed, not genuine
i miss the loving smiles you once gave to me
my senses ache for that rapture still
"no, i don't wanna fall in love"
i've gotten past the tears and anger
but those deepest wounds will never heal
my greatest fears are now realized
true love never really dies
"what a wicked game you play to make me feel this way"
you had a painful past, the type that damages one forever
"this girl is only gonna break your heart"
my past was one of heartache and hardship, the damage was done before we began...how were we to know?
"nobody loves no one"
this tragedy is blameless and i hold no grudge
only my heart in my outstretched hands
and lingering questions

This is sad. It's a poetic tragedy. But it holds a lot of truth in it. It's interesting how something so depressing can be so good,. It's hard to do, but you did it. Great write. :]
