Silent Stare

Silent Stare

A Poem by Meg Craft
"

Realizing you don't know someone anymore...

"

I’ll say this to break the silent stare

But I see you over there

And I know you see me, too

Staring at me with eyes a gorgeous crystal blue

And hair of satin silk

And skin as pale as cold milk

“ Who is he?” they ask. “ The tall one by the door?”

I shake my head and say, “ I don’t know anymore.”

I lower my head and sigh

Because I know you wont even pass by

I once knew you well, so come over for a while

I wont even mind if you fake your smile

Finally, you walk away

Without giving me anymore to say

And I count every step you take

My feeling for you I just can’t shake

With my emotional burden, you just don’t care

Now I look to the floor, another silent stare
