Sweet Nothings

Sweet Nothings

A Poem by Bec

I hear a tune

The sound of something soft

Alluring and sweet

Clear and pure

A voice like an instrument

It’s coming right there

From the room that you’re in

But it is not music

It’s screaming and cries

Time to imprint

Words of pain in my head

Time to tear me apart

Here you go again

Here you go again

It means nothing to me

A sweet nothing to me

I hear your whispers no more

The noises of you

Fade into the background

The noises of you

Just fade right away

They are nothing to me

Sweet nothings to me

You’re right over there

In your perfect corner

And you call me over

Over to you

I’m ready for an attack

Of the worst, most horrifying

Furious kind

Look around you

The writing’s on the wall

I don’t want what you give me

I don’t need it

Don’t want it

I don’t want you

I don’t need you

I hear a weak cry

The sound of something soft

Pathetic and cold

It’s coming right there

From the room that you’re in

The noises of you fade into the background

They mean nothing to me

A sweet nothing to me

The noises of you

Are sweet nothings to me

You are nothing to me

A sweet nothing to me
