DISSONANCE

DISSONANCE

A Poem by Rene Velez

I am convinced,
we are all oblivious.
Pretending. Dissonant.
In the dark. Hands forward,
waiting for the faintest light;
adversary of indifference.

Obeying rules, the same rules
life does not conform to.

The child inside subdued.

Small lies occupying space,
nothing of value in its place.

Things,
not quite what they appear,
losing sight by smell of fear.

Ripples,
into futures they trounce.
Everything connected,
alive and pronounced.
