THREE-STAR MICHELIN

THREE-STAR MICHELIN

A Poem by Rene Velez

We have rich people
who can afford a
Seventy-five thousand
dollar drink but, no money
for clean water in Flint,
Michigan,

Riding fancy cars,
eating caviar
at three-star Michelin's

with disregard for
children scared by
poverty and hunger,
families torn asunder,
people left to wonder,

for a meager income
for a false sense of freedom,
add emotional pain,
lost links in the human chain,
so
close to extinction.

So much could and should have been done... and the sheer waste of time, resources, and money was and still is staggering and criminal. Lead is forever... how many lives were flushed.
