We Became

We Became

A Poem by Rhian Mason
"

As a kid you were probably told "You'll make a great (your dream job) when you're older!" Where are you now?

"
We became the kids our parents warned us about
The drunk kids
The high kids
The staying up all night kids

We became the adults who learnt to function on substances
The caffeine adults
The nicotine adults
The line before bedtime adults

Legislation and regulations
Dampening our discoveries
But what we really discovered is
There no longer exists the innocence of being a kid

About
Fell in love with poetry aged 12 then life got in the way, reigniting my love through my own experiences at 18. Tell me if I'm bad, tell me if I'm good and I'll build on it. more..
