Longings Flame

Longings Flame

A Poem by Rikkevi Rue
"

A nod to that which drives us

"

Seared from within by longings flame

clutching for life to a tiger's mane

wearied head hung, desperate game

tempered by the gains of learning

bursting from my chest in yearning

spurred to excel by the ache there burning

blinded eyes met squinting, sun

dreams afar yet searching, run

fulfillment seeking, never done

youth born vision, striving on

hope subdued yet back, each dawn

driven, vain achievers pawn

odds that favor, believers math

hidden view, the future path

humility’s insightful laugh

humility’s insightful laugh…

you~my friend~are one of a handful of 21st century writers I know who not only handle classic rhythmic patterns flawlessly but know how to subtly insert personalized seedlets of unique expressive surreality that makes comprehensive emotional sense flawlessly~

Heady words from one who actually knows the dance! Thank you compadre!
Whatever the odds, the poets amongst us will always be driven towards achieving our dreams, fuelled by that 'flame' within. 'Humility's insightful laugh' can be hard to take sometimes... but here you have grasped it and turned it into poetry... turned it on it's head to send a message out to every reader and poet alike in strong images, measured rhythm and a lyrically driven rhyme scheme. A poem that speaks out to all of us, keeps the flame burning!
