Votre Depart

Votre Depart

A Poem by Rowen Cameron
"

I knew we were never meant to be. I knew my feelings would not be returned. But I never wanted an ending like this...

"

I didn't want it to end this way.

Your piece of my heart slowly dying, diminished.

The strings that held us torn by decay,

Giving me reason for crying, finished.

I remember the times I longed for your glance,

The times your face set my spirit aflame.

Brown and blue irises meeting to dance,

The great elation when you called me by name.

Where have those eyes of kindliness fled?

The persona of friendship? I must've been dreaming.

To you I'm now glass, transparent and dead.

Invisible, immaterial and silently screaming.

Your cold exterior will claim me in time,

My soul eventually devoured and gorged.

My heart will sing to a broken chime

Should I not break the chains that I forged.

But no I didn't want an end like this,

Longing to keep and yet dying to break.

Now your memory I cast to the abyss,

Despairingly counting the steps you take.
