Insanity

one acidic word from your lips
and my sanity slips
the tone of your voice sharp as a knife
bringing my demons back to life
I battle them and fight with you
ten against one
when it should be us two
attack on attack until exhaustion
impulsive reactions no time for caution
with one final blow
down my monsters go
all that's left is you and I
drained of strength
bones nearly dry
battered and hurt
another lesson learned
apologies too large to speak
after this battle words are too weak
you cover my mouth with yours
energy is restored
and we survive to fight once more
