Insidious Sequoia Tree

Insidious Sequoia Tree

A Poem by Stoned Immaculate

Where the sun's rays
Dissipate and no
Longer sustain golden dreams,
The insidious Giant Sequoia
Stands tall on
Sovereignty Hill.
Blessed by Machiavellian
Nature
Grand branches
span
Generations in time,
Degradation intertwined
With the Curse of Ham
Transgressions gracing
15th and 16th Century lives
Stamped from our inception
No escape from
Remnants of hate
Twigs sway lingering
Like serpents frozen in time,
Yielding poisonous fruit with
Toxic Military and Prison
Industrial properties,
Malign shade befalls humankind.
Noble politicians, coveted constituents
Securely Juxtaposed
In between the roots
And trunk of the sequoia tree.
Annually common men
And women
of various hues bloom
Exposed to seasonal reigns.
Each year the Earth's rotation
Welcomes the end
of Autumn's breeze.
At the dawn of Winter
Common souls become deciduous
Withering away
By the end of Earth's shortest day.
