LANGUAGE AND CONNECTIVITY

LANGUAGE AND CONNECTIVITY

A Poem by Saddam
"

This a quick write. Trying to know the connectivity between local and outsides scholars.

"

Is it not so funny!

We are in Hindi class

But talking so loud

In modern language English.

Look, the other curious students

They are keen to join us

They want a conversation with us

But they can’t connect with us

Because we are foreigner for them.

This is so true. Even in pakistan....language is a huge issue....those who dont speak fluent english find it hard to interact with those who do. It also creates a class gap. A superiority complex placed in our land by colonizers

Yes, although language binds people together, it also divides them. I think the last line should read 'because we are foreigners to them' otherwise the English is good. Well done.

Saddam was a man of knowledge
He chose to use it in the wrong way

but he had something good inside
With regards to language

If you close your eyes and not panic because its a foreign language
Your brain will start to make meaning of something you don't understand
the brain is so powerful
i tried it
it works

Saddam here i think was referring to human curiosity
to mix with something so foreign
people love one another
its built inside

hate is taught not birthed

Every language is a key to unlock doors and barriers. You have summed it up marvelously. An excellent one....:).......

I always find this diversity in my class too. A mix bag of students proficient only in English, only in Marathi, only in Hindi :P Language barriers are a reality here, sadly. A nice write, Saddam :)
