A light in the dark

A light in the dark

A Poem by Sahreinah
"

I recently found a bit of light in my life, in the form of a friend who opened her heart and just listened. This poem is an attempt to spread some of that light.

"
Wandering alone at night,

your path so dark and dreary.

With no hope to fuel the light,

each step makes you feel so weary.

An unending war to fight,

fear is a mighty adversary.

When there is no help in sight,

that's when things get truly scary.

When the face of darkness is unveiled,

there's no safe place to be found.

Fear will strike like a train derailed,

and chase you like a rabid hound.

In the end your legs won't carry,

you will stop running around.

When Death shows you to his ferry,

will you go or stand your ground?

The answer might not always be clear,

so let your memories be your guide.

The people in life who hold you dear,

don't you want to stay by their side?

We all need friends who give us hope,

who share their light when ours won't shine.

Their listening hearts will help us cope,

their joy can make our stars align.

It's not easy to let someone in,

to open up when fear bars the door.

But our healing cannot begin,

until we resign and expose our core.

The road is long and it goes up and down,

but those who truly care will forever stand with you.

They fill your sea and watch your fear drown,

I think I found a new light and I hope that you do too.
