Second Summer

Second Summer

A Poem by Sara
"

wartime story

"

Second summer come,

Give an excuse for play.

Just one more day

While the weather still stays warm.

Second summer come,

Wash over our toes

Like the cold water flows

In streams that still believe in winter.

Second summer come,

Remind us of the days

We lingered in the shade

And waited for surrender.

Second summer come,

Disturb the peaceful war

That clamors at our door

While we’re still trapped in winter.

=)). Paints a picture that I want to slip into, far far away. "In streams that still believe in winter.." Very descriptive. I can feel it. Just..very well done. Thanks for sharing, I needed to see this picture. God bless.

Nice job. I liked the imagery here. It gives a hint that you are not necessarily talking about just the winter and summer seasons and maybe there is a deeper meaning.
Thank you for sharing.

I agree with the other reviews, simple yet very effective images that really pull the reader in...

Reminds me of the military's hurry-up and wait type policys. It is a perfect reminder of those long agonizing moments waiting for something that you really want. Good write. ;)
